Description The language is a core element of our life. It helps to make possible the communication in our life and at the same time, it shapes our structues of thinking and the way we communicate our thoughts. This is why the better we use the language, the better we get to know ourselves and present our personality to the society. This course aims to give to the students general and special skills in using the albanian language; by improving their skills in writng of the albanian language and by developing their speaking abilities in discourses and different discussions.
Objectives • To present the students with the basic rules of the art of writing. • To learn the basic issues of the morphological and syntactic regulations. • To make the students achieve better acts of communication through the normative discourse. • To create their papers, writings, studies, diploma etc. through a specialised and normative language. • To encourage the critical approach on the language matters and on the corretion in the cases when the albanian language is not uses correctly.
Course Outline
1Albanian language through its historical development; key concepts - Albanians and their own language; the feature of language, its functions. Linguistic and its thought development.
2Albanian language as an Indo-European language, main issues; Indo- European linguistic family; Indo-European Albanian language identity. Albanian language as unique Indo-European language. Writing first documents.
3Albanian standard (literary) language and its main dialects. Albanian standard language; dialects, and local speaking; The continuity of standard language fulfillment.
4Phonetics, main issues- sound features of language; man’s phonetic device. Vowels and consonants.
5Accents in Albanian language, main issues- phonetic units-Accent features- logical accent and emotional one. The intonation.
6Lexicology, main issues. The object of lexicographical studies. Linguistic sign. Features and values of Albanian word.
7Semantic analysis, main issues. Lexical meaning. Semantic moving and linguistic figures. Main kinds of lexical meanings. Semantic structure of the word. Emotional meaning as part of word meaning and content.
8Midterm Exam
9Semantic relations of the words; main issues. Synonyms, antonyms, homonyms.
10Phraseology, main issues. Phraseology, Phraseological units, phraseological units’ classification. Calks and phraseological borrowings.
11Albanian lexicon, main issues- lexical development. Historical overview on Albanian lexicon.
12Lexicology and Albanian dictionaries, main issues- lexicography and dictionaries. The history of Albanian lexicography. Dictionary of Albanian Today words.
13Functional styles of Albanian language, main issues.
14Meaning for linguistic style; main tools and stylistic norm. functional features of language styles in Albanian.
