The Speaker of the Parliamentary Committee for Legal Affairs, Public Administration and Human Rights, also chairman of reform in Law Mr. Fatmir Xhafa, discussed with the students of Bedër the importance of reforms in the judiciary.
Mr. Xhafaj, being a guest at the opening ceremony of the 3rd Student Conference in Law organized by the Department of Law, spoke about the progress of the work that the reform commission has performed so far.

Department of Law in the HEI "Hëna e Plotë" Bedër represented for the second time in the competition of judicial simulation of International Criminal Court in The Hague.
The students Jonida Shtylla, Fatjona Halaj, Helena Dokaj, Amarildo Hoxha, Endri Cela constitute the competing team in this international competition.
The judicial simulation competition of the International Criminal Court took place from 17 to 22 May 2015 in The Hague, Netherlands. This competition hosted universities from around the world, to a large extent of the debate, simulating proceedings of the International Criminal Court. The competition consisted of a detailed educational and social program, of six days, bringing together students of different backgrounds and cultures in The Hague to challenge their skills as future international lawyers. The final round took place in an actual courtroom with a concrete trial panel of the International Criminal Court.
The competition includes cooperation with the international court judges, professors of international law (criminal) and other law professionals. This network makes the competition a real simulation sessions that take place in the International Criminal Court. Competition issues are addressed to both fundamental substantive and procedural issues the International Criminal Law.
In the 2015 edition, there are 57 teams from 38 different countries of the world being registered for the Moot Court competition of the International Criminal Court.
The contest for the best essay in French language organized by the University “Hëna e Plotë” Bedër in collaboration with the French Alliance and the French Embassy of Tirana.
This competition is open to:
a) All young people aged between 15 to 25 years;
b) Secondary school students, of French Alliance and francophone students.

Mrs. Milena Harito, Minister for Public Administration and Innovation, who was invited within the cycle "Brownbag Seminars”, held an open lecture to students of the Department of Law on the subject: “The reforms in public administration, a precondition for membership in the European Union”.
The conversation with the students took place in several stages; initially Mrs. Harito acquainted the participants with the competencies, structure and institutions dependent on the Ministry. Then she made a brief description of specific reforms undertaken in public administration at the service of the EU accession process.
The activity continued with numerous questions by the students who expressed their interest in fields such as: replacement of administrative staff in accordance with the respective governments, the vision of the ministry for the future, the possibilities created by the ministry for the labor market and specifically for young professionals and the impact of the membership process in the functioning of the Ministry.
During the visit to Bedër University, Ms. Milena Harito was accompanied by the rector of the institution Dr. Ferdinand Gjana who among others introduced to Mrs. Minister the museum of Media and Communication.
Jessup International Competition, under ILSA's management joins law students from across the globe. Now in its 56's year, Jessup is the largest international competition in the world for law students, with participants from more than 600 universities worldwide.
For the second consecutive year, HEI “Hëna e plotë” Bedër has set upa team of qualified students of international law that will enable the representation of Albania for the third time in the history of Jessup.
The competition simulates a case in the International Court of Justice (ICJ), the principal judicial organ of the United Nations. Since September 2014 the team has studied the issue of litigation in Jessup, of which addresses the effect of a fundamental change of circumstances of a bilateral treaty and the procedural and substantive issues arising by the annexing of the territory of one nation to another.
The team has researched and developed the core arguments orally to represent each side of the imaginary dispute.
The team represented by students: Mandrit Kamolli, Emira Shkreta, Emsal Ajredini, Eduart Gjoni and Albi Cela traveled to Washington to submit presentations in a race head to head with their counterparts, students from around the world.
Mr. Ilir Qafa was invited by the student club "Bedër Law Academy" in an open lecture where he shared his views with students and participants about "The Role and Functioning of the Probation Service."
Mr. Qafa after making a short summary of the activities of the institution he leads said “This institution has started to produce positive results, which are inevitably linked with the rehabilitation of offenders, reduction of recidivism or reduction of the economic costs associated with serving the sentence in the institutions of education and serving of criminal penalties”.
The conversation with students proceeded in the form of question- answers, where Mr. Ilir Qafa clearly analyzed every area in which students showed interest, mentioning: the provisions of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Albania, the space where we can act Probation Service, etc.
The initiative of Law students on the campaign on violence against women
"From boys and men, against violence on women and girls" was the documentary organized by Gender Alliance for Development Center in cinema "Millennium".
A discussion panel was held during the show where different personalities referred, such as US Deputy Ambassador in Tirana, Deputy Minister of Education, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Youth and Social Welfare and Head of the Counseling Line for Women and Girls.
"Beder Law Academy" Club by participating in this event opened the way to activities within days of society awareness about the elimination of violence against women.
this club will organize a series of activities focusing on different themes starting from 25 November, International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women until December 10 Day of Human Rights at the same time.
The diversity of these activities consists on raising awareness of students and society about the violence against women being a phenomenon that must be fought until the complete disappearance of it from our society.
